Abuja to host Business of Fashion Conference this month

Several fashion entrepreneurs and aspirants would be attending the Business of Fashion Conference, scheduled to be held in Nigeria’s Abuja city on September 14, 2013.   The conference aims to enlighten fashion industry stakeholders and aspirants regarding the business opportunities in fashion industry and identify, manage and develop new products, ideas as well as services.   The conference would be hosted by award winning London-based Fashion Brand AsakeOge designer Asake Agoro, the founder of the Business of Fashion Conference series in Nigeria, and would be presented by the Fashion Designers Association of Nigeria.   The conference intends to support the growth of the Nigerian fashion industry, nurture and guide emerging fashion entrepreneurs, teach them to survive and grow their businesses, as well as demonstrate how fashion graduates can use entrepreneurial skills to explore work opportunities within the fashion industry.   Topics of discussion would include: Introduction to the Fashion Business, Overcoming challenges in the Nigerian Fashion Industry, Public relations and Marketing, Mass Production and Fashion Retailing and Keys to Building a Successful International Luxury Fashion Brand.   Speakers at the conference would include Nigerian fashion designer Lanre Da Silva Ajayi (LDA), who owns a fashion label, Funmi Ajila, President of the Fashion Designers Association of Nigeria and designers Mai Atafo, Funmi Ajila and Modela.   As a part of the conference event, the organizers also propose to hold a Fashion and Arts Banquet at the Arts Centre in Abuja on September 15, 2013, with an intention to raise start-up funds for emerging talent and tuition fees for extremely talented designers.   The organizers of the conference would also conduct workshop on couture dressmaking.   Culled from
